Another Interesting Memoir

Written from the heart, this honest memoir chronicles the painful journey of the beloved and the lover towards the final moment of their 34 years together. Even though you know how it turns out, this book is a page-turner, perhaps due to the author’s skill as a successful writer of Harlequin and Silhouette Romances.
Thelma Zirkelbach chronicles the day-by-day difficulties from diagnosis of leukemia to the end of her husband’s life. During this painful year, her mother dies and her son has a heart attack. And all through this she continues working as a speech pathologist and writing her new romance novel. You just keep wondering how she copes with it all.
It’s tough going, especially in dealing with medical and hospital issues and errors, but she toughs it out. And doesn’t spare us the details. Even though many have gone through similar difficult times, looking into the heart of someone who shares her journey with us as she takes each step, makes us all stronger and grateful for steadfast, human people like Zirkelbach.

Noted here is the strength and power of support she receives from her family, friends and career. Something we all need to appreciate and develop as we go through life, while praying we can avoid disaster ourselves.
I wrote about my husband's death in The Church of Tango, but in a different way--my story begins afterwards. Zirkelbach had her family, friends and work for support, and I had music and dancing that carried me through when I was alone, lonely and broke. The point is that we all need something to keep on putting one foot ahead of the other one in the walk of life.
